Helping Hands of Springfield is looking for a seasoned administrator to serve as its next Executive Director. The Executive Director provides strategic leadership for the agency in alignment with its mission, vision and values and is responsible for achieving organizational goals, maintaining sound financial practices and cultivating positive relationships with stakeholders.
This role is benefits-eligible with an annual salary range of $95,000 to $115,000, commensurate with experience.

Leadership profile:
The successful individual will be an inclusive, servant leader with exceptional organizational, financial, strategic and team leadership skills and has demonstrated ability to successfully lead a complex nonprofit social service organization. A passion for ending community homelessness through a collaborative and multipronged approach is a must. The Executive Director will streamline Helping Hands’ organizational operations; effectively and efficiently direct operational budgets; improve revenue; direct business strategy; and enhance relations with staff, the media, internal stakeholders and community partners. Helping Hands has experienced significant growth in the last two years, and the successful candidate will have the competencies needed to plan, gain organizational and board buy-in, and execute significant advancements in organizational culture, controls, administrative processes and service delivery.
Job summary:
The Executive Director of Helping Hands provides strategic leadership for the agency in alignment with its mission, vision and values. The ED reports to a volunteer Board of Directors and is expected to achieve organizational goals, maintain sound financial practices and cultivate positive relationships with all stakeholders.
Responsibilities:
• Strategic Leadership
o Lead and shape the organization’s strategic direction in collaboration with the Board of Directors.
o Monitor industry trends, assess internal and external factors, and create annual
improvement plans for overall agency performance.
o Build strategic partnerships with key stakeholders and local agencies--including but
limited to medical services, behavioral health services, pastoral services, substance
abuse treatment services, and other homelessness and housing services--to enhance
service delivery and address client needs.
o Develop annual improvement plans for the agency, client service delivery, agency
leadership, and staff
• Administrative & Fiscal Oversight
o Oversee day-to-day business activities, directing and streamlining daily operations
o Create and maintain comprehensive and accurate budgets that meet the objectives set
in agreement with the Board of Directors
o Ensure tax compliance and successful annual audits
o Draft organizational policies, procedures and philosophies and ensure ongoing
compliance
o Work with local, state, and federal officials to ensure ongoing funding and develop new
funding sources
o Lead administration of grants from multiple sources, including grant writing, editing,
reporting, and outcomes monitoring per required timelines and standards
o Ensure improvement in unrestricted funds and indirect cost rates to enable agency
development
• Agency Leadership
o Manage and guide all members of the leadership team, and advise the Board of
Directors on organizational matters.
o Conduct evaluations, set goals, and provide development and training opportunities to
improve staff effectiveness.
o Implement regulatory guidelines, oversee special projects, and safeguard staff and
clients from workplace violence.
o Ensure the voices of clients, staff, marginalized groups are heard and considered in
decision-making through the use of focus groups, intentional rounding and presence,
surveys or other methods
• Community Relations & Fundraising
o Act as spokesperson for Helping Hands
o Build strategic partnerships with community and governmental organizations
o Coordinate with government and community stakeholders to secure support for
programs
o In partnership with the Board of Directors, develop and meet fundraising goals
o Meet with potential donors and facilitate planned giving
Required Qualifications
● Master’s degree in business, public administration, social work or related field
● At least three years of leadership and management experience, preferably at a nonprofit or social services agency
● Experience managing complex budgets with restricted and unrestricted funding sources
● Familiarity with state and federal grants, grant writing, and required reporting
● Exceptional stewardship, strategic-planning and project management skills
● Public relations and marketing knowledge with strong written and verbal communication skills
● Strong interpersonal and organizational skills
