A New Journey Begins: My Role as Executive Director of Helping Hands of Springfield

I am honored to join Helping Hands of Springfield as its new Executive Director. Throughout my career, I have focused on improving healthcare delivery for underserved populations, recognizing that access to care is deeply intertwined with housing stability. I have worked alongside dedicated interdisciplinary teams to bridge gaps in services, ensuring that individuals facing housing insecurity receive not only a safe place to stay but also the medical care, psychosocial support, and resources they need to rebuild their lives. Helping Hands has long been a cornerstone of this community, providing more than just shelter—it offers a foundation for long-term stability and hope. I am excited to build upon that legacy and work alongside our incredible staff, board, volunteers, and community partners to strengthen and expand our impact.

My commitment to this work is both professional and deeply personal. As a clinical social worker and administrator in Atlanta, Georgia, I have seen firsthand how access to stable housing, quality healthcare, and comprehensive support services can change lives. This experience has shaped my vision for a community where every individual experiencing homelessness is met with dignity, integrated care, and sustainable solutions. In Springfield, I see an opportunity to build on existing efforts by fostering collaboration among service providers, strengthening partnerships, and expanding access to long-term housing solutions. Through a collective effort, we can create a system that not only meets immediate needs but also lays the foundation for long-term stability and self-sufficiency.

On a personal level, I understand the uncertainty that comes with housing instability. While in college, I experienced a period without stable housing, which deepened my appreciation for the resilience of those facing similar challenges. That experience reinforced my belief that everyone deserves access to safe shelter, compassionate support, and opportunities to rebuild their lives.

As I step into this role, my focus will be on strengthening programs, deepening relationships within the community, and ensuring that Helping Hands remains a place where every person is treated with dignity and respect. I am grateful for the dedication of our incredible staff, whose hard work and compassion make a difference in the lives of those we serve every day. Their commitment, along with the support of our board, volunteers, and community partners, is what makes this organization a vital resource in Springfield.

I invite you to join us—whether through volunteering, advocacy, or supporting our mission—so that, together, we can continue making a lasting impact. I look forward to meeting many of you and working alongside our team to create a community where everyone has the opportunity to thrive.
